The Charm of Tuscany & Umbria — SOLD OUT —May 6-19, 2019

We start with a brief stay in “The Eternal” city of Rome to admire ancient Roman ruins and walk through Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana in Tivoli. We then hike around one of Italy’s most beautiful parks and man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans (Cascate delle Marmore). During the first week we will stay at and visit small charming Medieval towns interspersed through the mountains of Umbria while we eat exquisite farm to table food.

In Montone we will stay at Locanda del Capitano, a small boutique hotel owned by well-known Italian chef and childhood friend, Giancarlo Polito. From here we will take day trips to Gubbio, Spello and Cortona.

Experiences & Activities

Welcome Dinner – Guided Tour of Rome – Day trip to Tivoli with visit to Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana – Hiking the Marmore Falls – Walking in Spoleto, Spello, Gubbio – Cooking class with Chef Giancarlo Polito – Truffle hunting – Wine tasting

We change scene by traveling and staying in Tuscany where time stands still with its stone farms, monasteries, castles, and ancient medieval villages perched on hilltops.

Waking up early in the morning to enjoy stunning sunrises and fairytale like scenes of mist and fog rolling off the hills. With so many towns to check out and only so much time to enjoy them all, we plan to stop in Gaiole in Chianti, San Gimignano, Siena, Montepulciano and Montalcino.

As we relax and enjoy our stay, we will cook with locals, learn about olive oil, saffron, and taste some of the local wines and vin santo.

Experiences & Activities

Visit to old monastery in Gaiole in Chianti – Cooking class – Olive oil tasting – guided tour of San Gimignano – Organic farm visit, lunch and wine pairing – Wine tasting in Montepulciano and Montalcino – Visit to Saint Antimo Abbey – Tour of Siena – Tour of Orvieto – Day walking around Civita di Bagnoreggio

“First, we heard great things from friends who travelled to Puglia with Antimo. Second, following the social media postings from Antimo's trips made us sign up without any further hesitations. We came back from two of the most memorable weeks in Italy and cannot wait to be back soon!”

“WOW! Seeing Italy accompanied by Antimo and meeting his friends and family was an experience of immeasurable value. The people we met, the food we ate, the sights we saw, the wine we tasted were simply incredible. The joy and happiness we felt and the relationship we built during the trip have no price!
