EXPERIENCE PORTLAND

Are you wondering where you can go to find world-class windsurfing, wine and dining options?  Are you looking for a place that has water and snow skiing close-by and natural beauty that can be reached in a day hike or paddle?  Would you really like to travel to a location that offers numerous renowned microbrews or hundreds of miles of biking and walking trails?  Are you interested in a vacation where the focus is “green”?  Do you want to see the filming locations for the successful television series’ Grimm or Portlandia?  You have found the answer for all of these quests in one lovely city, Portland, Oregon.

  • There are more than 200 parks within city limits, from forests to marshlands, trails to skateboarding rails.
  • Oregon is one of the last states that charges no sales tax, so shop away!
  • Should you rent a car or drive here, Oregon is also one of the last states where you are not allowed to pump your own gas so sit back and relax and be pampered at the pump.
  • Portland has a population of over 600,000 while the metropolitan area has more than 2 million inhabitants.
  • Portland is near the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. It is known as the Bridge City with 11 bridges connecting the population.
  • You can tour the city by walking, biking, buses or boat or by your interest like food carts or wineries.
  • The Rose Festival is an annual celebration during the first full week of June which includes a waterfront CityFair and concerts, beautiful floral floats in the Grand Floral Parade, naval and Coast Guard boats anchored on the Willamette and an art show.
  • Coffee, beer or wine? Whichever is your libation of choice you will have ample opportunity to locate the ideal drink. There is generally a wine bar, a microbrewery or a coffee shop on most blocks in the city and in the suburbs.

There are a multitude of hotel options in the city.  There is something to meet every financial, cultural and historical need. VoomaGo has worked with our network of Locals and partnered with many accommodations options. When we’re building your trip with you, we can discuss the availability and right fit for your needs.

A day in Portland…

You could spend the entire day walking through Forest Park (within the city) as it covers over 5,000 acres and  70 miles of trails.  You will undoubtedly encounter other walkers, hikers and runners as this is very popular among the locals.

Do you have a particular “difficult to find” book you have been searching for?  Powell’s is a Portland landmark and is one of the world’s greatest bookstores.  It covers an entire city block and contains more than 1.5 million books. Searching these renowned shelves is a delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Just a short drive out of town is Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease.
