Roman Ruins and Florence from Above in Fiesole

There is so much more to Florence than the Ponte Vecchio, the David and the Duomo. Feel like getting away from the throngs of tourists in Florence and admire the city from up high? Not far from the city center rests Fiesole, a small town of Etruscan origins where many locals live in beautiful old villas. With our Local you will reach the town by bus, a great way to see the outskirts of Florence and people-watch.

In Fiesole, walk around and admire remains of the ancient Etruscan wall and a beautiful intimate Roman theater still used today for open air opera concerts or fashion shows. Also beautifully situated on the crest of the hill rests the small monastery of Saint Francis from which you can enjoy the view of the Tuscan landscape in all of its glory. As sunset approaches, depending on the weather our Local will accompany you for dinner at a recommended restaurant to take in the scenery while enjoying a delicious meal. Save room for dessert though — once you arrive back downtown, you will be visiting one of the best gelaterias in the city and venture on a final stroll through Florence by night.
