Week One: Puglia
These two delightful weeks will be spent exploring the concept of beauty and la Bella Vita while traveling in Puglia, Calabria, and the Amalfi Coast in the company of travel expert Antimo Cimino and Italian culture blogger Lonielle De Haven.
This memorable journey will start off in Southern Italy, in Puglia. Along with the changing colors and scenery, the end of October is the perfect time to experience Puglia’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil harvest. Surrounded by it’s beauty, we will learn about it’s history and culture; participate in local lifestyle by harvesting olives and olive oil tasting; cook with locals and enjoy some exceptional wines.
With some of the most beautiful and unique backdrops in Italy as our stage, locals by our side, along with delicious food and wine, we will creatively play with aesthetics and style to create beauty around the home, in the kitchen and in our lives
This enchanting journey will start in Lecce, the crib of the Baroque near the Adriatic. We will be staying in the center just a short walk from the old town. As we travel inland, we will explore the valley around Locorotondo and Alberobello, here will will stay a few days in ancient Trulli houses from the XVI century.
From here, after stopping in the ancient town of Matera (Second most ancient town in the world after Petra), we will make our way to the neighboring region of Calabria. Here we will stay a few nights in a castle from the XIII century overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Week Two: Calabria and Amalfi Coast
The second part of this journey will take us to the Amalfi Coast area for more local activities, amazing sightseeing, walking and hiking. Of course we will be indulging in the obligatory wine tasting in this region as well as we stroll and hike through the old towns of Vietri Sul Mare, Atrani, Amalfi, Praiano and Positano.
The surrounding breathtaking panoramas will be the perfect chance to learn photography tips on how to capture unique moments of beauty that will stay with you forever. We will also have a chance to watch ceramists working the clay and painting beautiful pieces of ceramics.
