Ancient Towns of Puglia and Calabria – April 20 – May 4, 2019 — SOLD OUT —Lecce, Alberobello, Monopoli, Praia a Mare, and more

PUGLIA

Upon arrival check in for 4 nights in elegant masseria outside of Gallipoli, from here we will explore the famous Salento region and its beautiful towns on the Adriatic Sea. We will hang out with family and friends of Antimo and stop in his hometown Manduria for a day completely dedicated to wine tasting. We will then travel north and inland toward the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Valle D’Itria, here we will be staying in a Trulli house visiting the towns of Alberobello, Locorotondo, and Ostuni surrounded by endless fields of ancient olive trees. Relax around the pool is also part of the plan. Finally, before we depart from Puglia, we will be visiting an old “Forno” (Bakery) to learn about local bread making.

CALABRIA

We will be visiting and walking the streets of Matera, the second world most ancient town after Petra. Due to its unique setting, this town is often the set of movies such as The Passion of Christ, Ben-Hur, The Omen, and most recently Wonder Woman. From here we will travel toward the toe of the Italian boot and stay in a castle from XIII century for three nights. The view of the Tyrrhenian Sea will keep us company as we travel to towns nearby.

From here, if you wish you can spend a few days on your own in the nearby Amalfi Coast (2 hours drive), Pompei and Ercolano, or Rome.
